Greek Island Adventure
The Winebar @ Mezes

Sunday March 14th, 2010
A special "Greek Island" bites menu paired with select Greek & California boutique wines.
Prepared by special host Kyriakos Ioannou
Kyriakos was born and raised on the southern coast of Cyprus in Potamos Yermasoyias . At the age of 14 he began Greek sea diving and hunting for octopus and other Mediterranean fish. He and his cousins would dive together bringing home their fresh fish. Under the culinary direction of his mother, they would participate in preparing a feast for the entire family to enjoy. Furthering their camaraderie, Kyriakos and his cousins would spend the evenings working in the seaside bars and clubs of the Potamos Yermasoyias . Entertaining locals and tourists was always a favored past time for them.
Before coming to the United States to further his education, Kyriakos served his country as a revered presidential guard in the Royal Army. He then went on to complete his Masters in Information Systems at the University of San Francisco. Residing in San Fracisco, Kyriakos still loves to prepare many of his native feasts pairing them with the wines he adores. He also enjoys talking with people about the wonderful place we call Greece!
