Chef Nikos Maheras started his career in 2000 in San Francisco. Being raised in Greece and having studied in California, he wanted to introduce to the Bay Area the Greek flavors and spices he grew up with as a child. From this vision came MEZES GREEK KITCHEN and WINE BAR, a modern Greek Taverna located in the San Francisco Marina district, where Chef Nikos developed his concept of small plates meant to share (the meaning of “mezes” in Greek). Mezes Greek Kitchen soon became a favorite spot among locals. With MEZESsf, his new products line, Chef Nikos is now bringing to your home some of his signature spreads.
MEZESsf mission is to promote tasteful and healthy nutrition habits. Our primary goal is to provide our customers with a true healthy and tasty choice when it comes to their daily diet, whether it is for snack, lunch or dinner. What makes MEZESsf products very unique and attractive is the desire to go back to simple recipes with outstanding quality products in terms of taste and nutrition.
“I became increasingly aware of the popularity of our spreads and many of my customers were encouraging me to create and sell my products under my own brand. One key element was and remains to maintain the quality of our production as high and stellar as it has always been when serving my customers at my restaurant. That meant conserving the integrity of the recipe, the quality of the ingredients and the freshness of the products with NO added preservatives of any sort. I realized early on that this would limit the shelf life of our spreads, but this was the commitment I was willing to make to sustain the high quality and taste of my products."
